On ClubLink's 2026 closing schedule, posted in mid-October, the line for the neighborhood's course reads "Glen Abbey Golf Club -- TBD." Nearly every GTA club on that list shows the same placeholder, and the note at the top explains why: "Club Closing dates are weather dependent and subject to change. Hospitality services are limited."
Glen Abbey Golf Club is still open, then. But a few minutes south, on North Service Road West, a 40,000-square-foot room full of simulator bays and an indoor putting green opened in mid-October. One of Oakville's indoor TrackMan facilities is starting new leagues this week. Glen Abbey's golf calendar used to have two seasons. This year the outdoor and indoor seasons overlap, and the decisions that shape a golfer's winter, which league to join and where to practice, get made during that overlap.
The course is still taking tee times at its summer rate
The ClubLink daily fee page for Glen Abbey Golf Club at 1333 Dorval Drive still opens with "Golf Course Opened!" Its rate table splits the year into three windows: Opening to May 3, May 4 to October 18, and October 19 to Close.
The posted numbers are the same in all three windows. Regular is $241 and twilight is $165, HST extra, with power cart and range access included. The page adds that shoulder-season pricing is set dynamically through the online booking engine, that bookings open 30 days ahead, and that rates are subject to change. So the published late-season figure matches midsummer, and the actual price on a cold November morning depends on demand.
The fine print shapes those late rounds as well. Glen Abbey is a cart-mandatory course, and range access is weather-dependent, limited to members and daily-fee players no earlier than one hour before a scheduled tee time. As the season winds down, the practice ground stays tied to booking a round. Hitting balls on your own schedule now happens indoors.
The indoor season opened at the neighborhood's southern edge
On October 17 and 18, Golf Town held the grand opening of its new flagship at 290 North Service Road West, an Oakville address in the same L6M postal district as the course. InsideHalton reported that the store is two and a half times the size of a standard Golf Town and represents a $15 million investment for the company. In the company's press release, president Barry Williams called it "a welcoming destination for golfers of all levels to gather, gear up, and fall in love with the game."
The features listed in that coverage are what set the opening date apart from an ordinary retail launch:
- Two StudioX custom fitting bays with Zen Green moving-platform technology that reproduces real green slopes and breaks, plus Quintic putter-fitting technology
- Five Foresight simulator bays that track a golfer's performance
- A 1,300-square-foot indoor putting green, which staff said is four times the size of those in standard stores
- A staffed personalization lab for wedge stamping, golf ball logo printing and gear customization
- A footwear section built around FootJoy's FJ FitLAB 3D volumetric scanner
Golf Town's own Oakville flagship page counts seven hitting and fitting bays in total and invites visitors to "practice your game" on its PuttView green and Foresight-powered space. The page presents the bays as both fitting and practice space and doesn't list hourly rates, so ask the store directly how bay time works before planning a regular practice slot around it.
The store opened while Glen Abbey's closing date was still unset. For at least a few weeks this fall, a golfer can play a round at Glen Abbey in the morning and try a moving-platform green on North Service Road the same afternoon.
The leagues set the real winter calendar
The weather decides when Glen Abbey closes. League registration decides when the indoor season effectively starts, and that date comes earlier.
Midtown Golf
Midtown Golf is an Oakville indoor facility built around TrackMan simulators, now in its third season. A sponsored October feature in Oakville News describes its offer as league play, instruction, casual rounds and focused practice. In that piece, owner Marc Gagnon, a PGA of Canada Apprentice Professional, put the appeal this way:
"Living in Canada, we have a relatively short outdoor golf season. A lot of golfers spend the entire summer working on their game, and just as they start playing their best golf, the season comes to an end."
The timing is concrete. An October 25 post on Midtown's Oakville News directory listing announced two more women's SIM golf leagues starting the first week of November. That's this week, while Glen Abbey's line on the closing schedule still reads TBD.
Further out, Midtown's league registration page lists a Monday Men's Winter League from January 4 to March 15, 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. It covers 11 weeks of nine-hole TrackMan play for $389.99 plus HST. The listing doesn't print a year, so confirm the season when registering. Golfers who would rather pay as they go can buy value packs. They range from $450 for $500 in credit, 10% off 10 hours, to $1,275 for $1,500 in credit, 15% off 30 hours.
Set against the course, the league math is easy to read. The Monday league works out to about $35.45 per week before tax for a nine-hole simulator round. Glen Abbey's posted regular rate is $241 for a single round. They're different products, but a winter league costs little enough to commit to before the outdoor season has formally ended.
Burloak Indoor Golf and Tempo Golf
West of Glen Abbey, Burloak Indoor Golf at 3540 Wyecroft Road, Unit 4, describes itself as a 14,400-square-foot year-round facility with 12 TrackMan simulators, and the banner on its site announces an opening on November 7. East of town, Tempo Golf at 3490 Laird Road, Unit 11, offers 24/7 access and describes its location as bordering Mississauga and Oakville. Once Burloak opens, there will be indoor bays on either side of the neighborhood.
A Glen Abbey golfer's calendar from November to spring
| Where | Address | What it offers | Date to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glen Abbey Golf Club | 1333 Dorval Drive | Cart-mandatory 18 holes; range with tee time only | Closing date TBD, weather-dependent |
| Golf Town flagship | 290 North Service Road West | Five Foresight simulator bays, two StudioX fitting bays, 1,300 sq ft putting green | Opened October 17–18 |
| Midtown Golf | Oakville | TrackMan bays, leagues, instruction, value packs | Women's SIM leagues start first week of November; Monday men's league January 4 to March 15 |
| Burloak Indoor Golf | 3540 Wyecroft Road, Unit 4 | 12 TrackMan simulators, year-round facility | Site announces opening November 7 |
| Tempo Golf | 3490 Laird Road, Unit 11, Mississauga | 24/7 access | Open all winter |
The table makes the overlap plain. Only the top row has an end date the weather controls. Everything below it is already running or has a start date set.
What the overlap means for the next few weeks
For a golfer living near Glen Abbey, November now works like a stretch where both seasons run at once. The course stays open as long as conditions allow, at a dynamically priced rate with limited hospitality. Meanwhile the neighborhood's southern edge has a new place to test a putter on a moving green. The women's leagues at Midtown start before most outdoor courses in the GTA have announced a closing day.
The practical sequence follows from those dates. Book any remaining Glen Abbey rounds through ClubLink's 30-day window while the TBD stands. Settle a winter league before November fills up, and check the January men's league before the holidays. Visit the Golf Town flagship to see the fitting bays and green in person, and confirm with staff how bay time is offered. When ClubLink posts a real date beside Glen Abbey's name, most of the indoor schedule will already be set.
